Bicycling awareness programs
Building awareness doesn't come easy. At their most successful, awareness
campaigns combine a number of elements pushing a cohesive message that appeals
to the target audience. We've been involved in many ways. We've created
the "pieces" for other people's campaigns and we've run our own
campaigns (see also helmet programs).
- Ran numerous local bicycling events, including bicycle commuter lunch,
complete with valet bicycle parking, and special showings of bicycle-related
films at local theatres;
- Created and directed taping of television PSAs on a variety of topics
ranging from safety messages concerning helmet and bike light use to promotion
of traffic riding courses;
- Helped create and implement local bicycle-pedestrian advisory board;
worked on original ordinance and participated on board for 3 years;
- Created "Bicycle Safety: What Every Parent Should Know;"
brochure used by numerous state and local bicycle programs and groups;
- Created "Sprocketman Talks Road Sense;" full-color cartoon
brochure for older kids;
- Created bicycling displays for use in malls, bank lobbies, and schools;
- Helped create pro-bicycling displays for Bike Week events;
- Created "share the road with bicycles" bumperstickers and
"bike commuters work here" window stickers for businesses, and
weekly "bike tips" series for local media;
- Created "Cyclist Survival Guide" for University of Montana
students;
- Created "Streetwise Cycling" for adult riders in North Carolina.
