Montana ISTEA2 Campaign

What other organizations are saying about ISTEA...

Where state and local governments are making the most of ISTEA, the law is improving our transportation system as well as people's lives. ISTEA. It Works.
The Community Transportation Association of America (CTAA) generally supports the transportation priorities and mechanisms established by the Intermodal Surface Transportation Efficiency Act of 1991, or "ISTEA." CTAA embraces a reauthorization of this law that will carry its many strengths forward into the 21st century.
The Intermodal Surface Transportation Efficiency Act, known as ISTEA, expires on Sept. 30, 1997, and is probably the most important piece of domestic legislation that Congress is going to consider this year. Because of the importance of this program to the counties, ISTEA reauthorization is one of NACo's top legislative priorities for 1997.
ISTEA is an important step forward toward a national transportation policy that knits communities together instead of tearing them apart. Reauthorizing ISTEA in its current form will be one of the National Trust's highest priorities in the months ahead. It promises to be a major fight, and we'll need your help.
NLC supports the reauthorization of ISTEA, which has generated positive outcomes, fortifying its visionary objective to link all forms of transportation into a seamless web to serve the nation. The reauthorization of ISTEA would preserve a decision-making role for local governments over federal transportation funds to implement national transportation goals at the local level.
We have all worked hard to realize the full promise of ISTEA over these past five years. We see the potential for even more progress ahead with renewal of this Act, as local officials strengthen and improve partnerships with state and federal officials, within the ISTEA framework.

Watch this space! We'll be adding a LOT more Pro-ISTEA views in the near future!

NOW...Thanks to Bob Hayes and Adam Cashman of FHWA, we've picked up an extensive chart showing who favors what in the next law. We give it to you in two ways:
